Planet

A Planet is a world-scale body of the Holarchy — the largest living whole a species inhabits directly, and one holon among the cosmos's many.

In the nested scales of the Holarchy — Sovereign, Circle, Community, Bioregion, Planet, Cosmos — the Planet is the integrating body of all life it carries: one Living System, one atmosphere, one water cycle, one fate shared by every being aboard. Earth is not humanity's property or platform; it is the Superorganism we are cells of, the garden entrusted to our Stewardship, and — in the Meta Project's frame — the worksite: Worksite Earth, where the New World is being built within the living body of the old one.

Planetary scale is where the Old World's fragmentation fails most visibly: no nation can steward an atmosphere, no market a biosphere. The challenges of this scale — regeneration, climate, the Commons of land and sea and sky — are the forcing function that calls humanity into Higher Order Functional Unity: coordination worthy of a planet, without the tyranny of a planetary throne (Holarchy · Interoperability).

And the Planet is not the ceiling. Worlds themselves are holons within wider bodies (Beyond Earth); a species that learns to be whole on its own world becomes, for the first time, a trustworthy neighbor among worlds.
