Terror
Terror is fear at full flood — the instrument overwhelmed. Felt Sense. Whiteout. Heart slamming or stopped, time dilated or gone, the body seized by one of its oldest programs: flee, fight, freeze. Thought is not consulted; it is bypassed. In terror the animal takes the wheel, because milliseconds matter. What It Signals. Terror reports mortal-scale threat — to life, or to what the soul holds as life: a child in danger, the self facing annihilation, the ground of the world giving way. It is the band's extreme: Fear escalated past the point where reading is possible, where signal becomes seizure. Its Gradient. The far end: Fear → Dread → Terror. Beyond it lies not a stronger emotion but shutdown — freeze and dissociation, the fuse blowing to protect the circuit. Its Gift. Raw survival. Terror's reflexes have carried life through fire for millions of years, summoning speed and strength the deliberating mind could never assemble in time. Its Distortion. Terror is honest in its moment; its distortion lives in the aftermath. Unmet, the flood leaves a watermark — trauma — and the alarm re-fires at echoes of the hour, reading past danger into a present that is safe. And terror deliberately inflicted is the Old World's oldest instrument of rule. The Move. In the flood: survive — the practices come later. Afterward: come back slowly, in safety and in company. Terror is not metabolized alone; it asks for a witness, a Circle, sometimes a skilled guide. Let the body finish the shaking it began, and teach the alarm, gently and often, that the hour has passed.
