Driver
A Driver is the compelling need, condition, or calling that will not let us rest — the force to which a purposeful response must be born. Every genuine undertaking traces back to one: a system is built, a Quest is chosen, a work is written in response to something real that demanded it.
In the craft of purposeful organization, the Driver is articulated as the one sentence everything else hangs from: what in our place will not let us rest — and what do we therefore exist to bring into being? From the Driver flows purpose; from purpose flow the seasonal Quests; from Quests flows the work of Tuesday morning. The gap that kills most good intentions is the one between a beautiful purpose and daily action — and a clearly named Driver helps close it.
