Understand

To Understand is to move beyond holding information about a thing into grasping the thing in its context — how it works, why it is as it is, what it is for, and how it relates to the whole. In the ancient ordering, Knowledge is superordinate to information and subordinate to Understanding; and understanding, in turn, ripens toward Wisdom.

Our ability to understand is one of the three limits on every Map of Reality — alongside our ability to Perceive and to Describe. Understanding cannot be rushed or merely read into being: it deepens through lived engagement, through Mastery, and through the humility to keep updating the map when Reality discloses what the map had missed.

Make your ear attentive to Wisdom. Incline your heart to Understanding.
