About the Gameboard
The small sign beside the Board — what you are looking at, and how to play it.
What is this? The living Board of The Great Game of LIØNSBERG — the one place where the whole Game is visible at a glance: who stands, the Circles, the Quests in play, the Stories harvested, the season we are in, and the Score. It lives at lionsberg.wiki/gameboard.
What do the sections mean? Each speaks its own tense. Who Stands — the Players, openly, by name. The Circles — bodies of three to thirteen, sealed at the pace of trust. The Groups — networks, councils, and guilds weaving beyond the Circle, joined by mutual consent written on both cards. The Quests — the work in play now. The Stories — the proof already harvested. The Pledges — what is coming. The Score — what has flowed.
How do I appear here? Walk the Arc: accept The Invitation · attend an orientation gathering (announced via the Substack) · make The Pledge — and take your stand. Send word through any door on Reaching Us and the stewards will tend your card onto the Board.
How does it stay current? Once a week, each Circle's tender takes two minutes at Update the Board — the one weekly door. The wheel and the day-count keep themselves; the cards are tended by human hands.
What name do I stand by? The name you are truly known by among those you play with — legal, chosen, or craft name (the first Player stands as AURELLIØN). One name, one card. If your name is already standing, the stewards add your place — John Smith (Boise) — the way villages have always told their Johns apart. And identity here is witnessed, not credentialed: every arrival names who first passed them the flame, and the stewards can confirm along that living line. If your name changes, send word — the card follows you.
Who can see this? Everyone — the Board is public, because standing together openly is how the Game becomes visible to All. What is never shown: contact details, or anything you did not consent to. Those whose circumstances truly require quiet may play unlisted (Reaching Us).
How do I find and reach people? The field pages (Who Stands → · The Circles →) have a filter — type a place, a gift, a name. To connect with anyone: send word through Reaching Us — the membrane opens by consent, never by broadcast.
Where does the truth live? In plain text, in the open git record — the Board is a rendering of the ledger and the cards in The Commons. Anyone can verify anything, always.
