The Pledge
The first Commitment — made and kept by every Player.
To step into the Game is to make the first Commitment: the Pledge. Before the first Quest, before the first gathering even, each Player accepts The Invitation and states what they will contribute — for the Game is a commitment-based system, and Heaven on Earth is brought forth by commitments made and kept. The Pledge is the first one: the one all the others stand on.
A Pledge names, for the season ahead (each 90-day cycle, turning at the solstice or equinox):
- Your TEA — the Time, Energy, and Attention you commit each week (the baseline to play: 10%, 4–5 hours)
- Your reciprocal resource contribution — treasure of any amount, flowing to the commons
- Your gifts — the capacities, crafts, and offers you bring to the body
A Pledge is living. Update it at any time, as your season of life changes. Renew it at every seasonal turning — freshly chosen beats silently assumed. And like every commitment in the Game: say what you will give; give what you said; learn from the difference.
Why the Pledge matters to the Whole: visibility. The gathered pledges let the body see what is committed for every cycle — and so plan, provision, and play into the future together, rather than hoping in the dark. The growing pledge board lives on The Gameboard, beside the Score: the Score tells what has flowed; the Pledges tell what is coming. This is a forcing function to bring shared Governance, decision making, and resource allocation online.
How, this season: the Pledge channel is being established — pledge links arrive by email alongside the orientation invitations, via the Substack, and travel only through the doors — never posted raw on the open web, so the membrane keeps the bots out without troubling the humans. Its form may grow into a season-by-season crowdfunding of the commons — visible, voluntary, alive. Until the channel opens, your Pledge lives with your Circle: speak it at your gathering, and record it on your Circle card.
