Nurturing the Commons
How the Game is given, and how playing together is sustained.
Everything is offered freely. The whole of LIØNSBERG — the Story, the Game, the Playbook, the Toolkit, every page of this wiki — is open source, held in the open git record, and licensed Creative Commons Share-Alike. Anyone may download all of it, carry it anywhere, translate it, improve it, and play in full — with no dues, no fees, no permission asked, and no one watching. The Seed is a gift, complete and unconditional. It always will be.
And no living or wise system has ever played together without nurturing the commons — the space between us. A body's cells each carry the whole code, yet the body lives only because blood flows between them. Playing together — one Board, shared gatherings, shared infrastructure, services, and support; a true Superorganism — requires a commons, held and nourished by all who play within it. And a commons is sustained the way every living thing is sustained: by commitment, reciprocity, and flow.
That is what the reciprocal weekly contribution is. Not a due. Not a fee. Not the price of the gift — the gift has no price. It is the metabolic flow of a living body: Time, Energy, Attention, and treasure, of any amount, each according to capacity and calling, flowing into the shared infrastructure, the gatherings, the Commons, and the support of the Whole. The Field of Agreements among us names it; the flow makes the Superorganism real.
Play free, or play together — both are honored. If a commons is not your way, take the whole Seed with our blessing and play on your own path — sovereignty first, always, and the Gate does not close. And know what the Game itself teaches, and what reality confirms: the Game is co-operative by nature. Its spirit is together. No successful world has ever been co-created in isolation.
The instrument of the flow is The Pledge — every Player's first Commitment, renewed each season, visible in aggregate on The Gameboard. The practical channels are being established this first season, announced via the Substack. Like everything here, what flows and where will live in the open record.
