Frustration
Frustration is the reading that will is meeting obstruction. Felt Sense. Pressure against a wall. Energy surges toward an aim and cannot get through: hands want to move, breath comes harder, the same attempt repeats with more force and less precision. The body of someone pushing on a door that will not give. What It Signals. Frustration is Anger at blockage rather than violation. Something alive in us — a purpose, a need, an act of creation — is flowing toward expression, and the channel is dammed: by circumstance, by another's choice, by a broken tool, by our own present limits. Its intensity measures how much the aim matters; its persistence measures how firmly the flow is blocked. Its Gradient. Third band of the heat spine: Annoyance → Irritation → Frustration → Anger → Fury. When the obstruction is judged permanent, frustration collapses toward Despair; when it is another's doing, it sharpens into anger proper. Its Gift. Location. Frustration is a dowsing rod for dams: it tells you precisely where the flow stops, which is the first thing an engineer of any river needs to know. It also confirms the aim is still alive — the dead do not push. Its Distortion. Two, in opposite directions: giving up — abandoning the aim to escape the feeling — and forcing — ramming the same approach harder until something breaks. Both mistake the wall for the whole territory. The Move. Stop pushing; step back until the dam comes into view. Ask: what exactly is blocked, and is this wall real, or just the only door I have tried? Then choose: another route, another tool, help, patience — or the honest sovereign decision that this aim is not the one. Related: Anger · Irritation · Perseverance · Despair · Emotion
