OmniSpection

OmniSpection is the practice of periodic 360-degree review — looking both inward and outward in all directions at once. It has been said that the minimum requirement of any continuously improving system is periodic Retrospection; but whereas Retrospection looks back, OmniSpection surveys the whole field: inward to the state of the Self or the Circle, outward to the state of the work and the world, backward to what has been learned, and forward to what is coming.

Its purpose is to consciously update the Map of Reality We are using to navigate from Where We Are to Where We Are Going. Recognizing the inherent finitude of each individual, accurate OmniSpection can only be done In Community — it therefore requires MindWeaving and shared SenseMaking, so that what no single vantage can see becomes visible to the whole. Continually navigating towards Truth in this Way dramatically increases the probability that We are on the right Path and taking the Wise Right Next Steps towards The Goal.

OmniSpection is woven into the sacred rhythms of The Great Game of LIØNSBERG:

  • Seasonal OmniSpection — at minimum at each solstice and equinox, every Circle and body pauses to review the whole: what was done, what was learned, what has changed, what is now called for.
  • Drift detection — canonical works, agreements, and voice are periodically reviewed against their standards and against Reality; drift is detected, and drift is corrected.
  • Self-correction — constitutions, systems, and structures within LIØNSBERG anticipate failure modes — capture, drift, ossification, corruption — and remain self-correcting through transparent, ongoing OmniSpection.

In this way every person, Circle, work, and institution stays accountable to Reality — holding all things as Current Best Understanding, and improving them continuously, season by season.
